174 people rescued after gondola malfunction at Colorado ski resort

By Piper Russell | Out There Colorado 174 skiers and snowboarders were evacuated from the Winter Park Resort gondola after it malfunctioned on Saturday. A blog post from the resort says the gondola had a mechanical issue at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday and immediately shut down as it is designed to do. Patrollers evacuated guests from the gondola. No injuries were reported. According to an article from CBS News, Winter Park confirmed that the rocker arm connecting two sections of tower one cracked and bent. The baristas are organizing after Starbucks unions nationwide have made considerable gains over what workers describe as "unfair labor practices." It also comes at what the union says is Starbucks' busiest season. By Por Jaijongkit | The Colorado Sun The tradition of hanging colored lights outside homes for Christmas originated in Denver in 1914 when a local electrician found a creative way to bring holiday cheer to his bedridden son. David Dwight Sturgeon dipped lights in red and green paint, strung them on an electric wire, and hung them around a pine tree for his ailing son to admire from his bedroom window. Soon neighbors began making their own outdoor light displays, and Denver Post coverage helped spread the practice through the city. While Sturgeon wasn’t the first person to display outdoor Christmas lights, the tradition he inspired in Denver is the first known instance of outdoor home Christmas lights becoming widespread in any city, according to History Colorado researchers.  R...

The baby Jesus figurine was dropped off at a safe haven location, Poudre Fire Authority station number one. The Jesus figurine was first reported stolen earlier in the week.
