Three weekend shootings in Commerce City resulted in four deaths

By Heather Willard | Fox 31 News Three violent incidents that led to four deaths were all reported out of Commerce City this weekend, starting Friday at about 8 p.m. Police said none of the events were related, and the locations ranged across the city. Joanna Small, Commerce City Police Department public information officer, said the fact that they are isolated incidents makes the weekend all the more unusual. Small also noted that Commerce City, on average, sees a handful of deadly shootings each year. The storms also caused a closure of Highway 85 between Glenwood Springs and Carbondale. The passes that were closed were Bear Pass and Imogene Pass. Man dies after falling from paddleboard at Carter Lake in Larimer County

By Jesse Sarles | CBS Colorado A man who was paddleboarding died over the weekend in Larimer County. It happened on Saturday afternoon on Carter Lake, located west of Berthoud. Officials from the Larimer County Sheriff's Office said a witness reported that the man wasn't wearing a life jacket. The witness saw the man fall into the water and said he didn't resurface. Divers first tried to locate him using sonar. Then, a few hours later, first responders searched the area where the man was last seen and found him. The man's identity hasn't been released. Finance manager who served for four decades has retired from Town of Brush

Gosselink, who has served the town for 42 years, is set to retire and says her last day will be July 31. Despite stepping down, Gosselink will continue to contribute to the community as a member of the Brush Rodeo Association Board. When asked about her plans after retiring, she said she has no plans yet but may do some traveling. She added that she will take some time for herself and will be bringing out her craft supplies. The health department is screening attendees after a puppy tested positive for rabies on Wednesday. CDPHE says the rabies-positive puppy came from Texas and has since been euthanized. The puppy was part of an adoption event with its 11 littermates at Moms and Mutts Colorado Rescue for Pregnant and Nursing Dogs, located at 2721 West Oxford Avenue in Englewood on July 20. Larimer Co. assessor says 51 homes were damaged or lost in Alexander Mountain fire

By BizWest The Larimer County assessor has completed a report of property damage caused by the Alexander Mountain Fire. The report, completed Sunday, shows that 51 homes were recorded as damaged or lost. By Maddie Rhodes | Fox 31 News On Friday, the U.S. Forest Service said the Alexander Mountain Fire that burned almost 10,000 acres was determined to be human-caused. The Alexander Mountain Fire in Larimer County was the largest of the recent Colorado fires, sparking in late July and burning 9,668 acres. While it’s almost at full containment after over a week, it destroyed or damaged 52 structures and caused hundreds of evacuations. Wildland fire investigators and the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office are following leads, and investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Forest Service Law Enforcement Tip Line at 303-275-5266.
