CEO of JPMorgan warns US of economic fate worse than recession: ‘The worst outcome’

By Jasmine Baehr  | Fox Business JPMorgan Chase CEO has laid out the "worst outcome" for America's economic future, beyond recession. "The worst outcome is stagflation," said Dimon. "And by the way, I wouldn't take it off the table." 68-year-old Jamie Dimon made his remarks on Tuesday at the Council of Institutional Investors in New York. JPMorgan Chase is the largest bank in the United States according to Bankrate, with $3.4T in assets. Stagflation, a portmanteau of stagnation and inflation, refers to a state where economic growth slows while inflation and unemployment rise. The economic consequences of stagflation may cause retirement savings to go down as well as the stock market to crash; it was last seen in the U.S. during the 1970s, according to Inves...

MacKinnon: Pause to appreciate the immense courage Trump is displaying daily on the campaign trail

By Douglas MacKinnon | Commentary, TownHall.com After the latest scare on Sunday, where the Secret Service opened fire on a man with an AK-47 outside of Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach while former President Donald J. Trump was on the course, I believe we all need pause to appreciate the immense courage Trump displays daily on the campaign trail. This is what President Trump put out immediately after the incident: “There were gunshots in my vicinity, but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL!  Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER! I will always love you for supporting me.” Legend.  That is the only word that comes to mind. READ THE FULL COMMENTARY AT TOWNHALL.COM

‘Largest deportation’ in history to begin in Aurora, Springfield (Ohio), Trump says

By Luige Del Puerto and Nico Brambila | Colorado Politics Republican candidate Donald Trump on Friday promised to execute the "largest deportation" in American history, which he said will begin in Aurora, Colorado, and Springfield, Ohio — two cities in the middle of a political firestorm following reports of a Venezuelan gang infiltrating apartment complexes in the former and claims of immigrants eating household pets in the latter.    "We're going to have the largest deportation in the history of our country, and we're going to start with Springfield and Aurora," Trump said at a press conference at his golf resort near Los Angeles. "We're bringing them back to Venezuela," the former president also said, asserting anew that a notorious gang from the troubled South Americ...

Arguments begin in legal battle over potential TikTok ban before federal appeals court

By Patrick Maguire, Scott MacFarlane, Kaia Hubbard | CBS Colorado A long-brewing legal standoff over the popular video-sharing app TikTok got underway on Monday, with arguments in the challenge against a possible ban kicking off.  TikTok and its parent company ByteDance have been under fire by U.S. officials for years over warnings that China's government could gain access to users' data and use it to manipulate or spy on Americans. But a renewed push against the app gained momentum in Congress earlier this year, as lawmakers approved a foreign aid package that included provisions requiring it to be sold or be banned from U.S. app stores. President Biden signed the legislation into law in April, teeing up a countdown for TikTok's sale. READ THE FULL STORY AT CBS COL...

Trump blames Biden-Harris ‘rhetoric’ for latest assassination attempt

By Brooke Singman | Fox News Former President Trump said President Biden and Vice President Harris’ "rhetoric" is what is causing him to be "shot at," following the second assassination attempt against him since July, while telling Fox News Digital that the suspected gunman "acted" on "highly inflammatory language" of Democrats.   Trump spoke exclusively with Fox News Digital Monday morning, just a day after he was rushed off of the golf course at Trump International in West Palm Beach, Fla., after the Secret Service discovered a gunman in the bushes.  The suspected gunman, Ryan Wesley Routh, had an AK-47 style rifle pointing through the chain-link fence out toward the green; a go-pro camera; and two backpacks. He ran from the scene but was pulle...

Congress targets Chinese influence in health tech

By DIDI TANG and HAVEN DALEY | KDVR, via AP A California biotechnology company that helps doctors detect genetic causes for cancer is among those that could be cut out of the U.S. market over ties to China, underscoring the possible tradeoffs between health innovation and a largely bipartisan push in Congress to counter Beijing’s global influence. The competition between the world’s superpowers is hitting Complete Genomics, whose employees, some in white lab coats stitched with U.S. flag arm patches, spin samples in test tubes and huddle around computers in San Jose. Its founder and chief scientific officer said he’s frustrated that geopolitics is interfering with science. “It’s just a loss for the research and for the industry,” Radoje Drmanac said. Manchin endorses Hogan in Maryland Senate race, rebuffing former party

By Ross O'Keefe | Washington Examiner Sen. Joe Manchin (I-WV) is endorsing former Republican Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan in the state’s U.S. Senate race. The move is a sign Manchin is further distancing himself from the Democratic Party after changing his party affiliation to independent. His endorsement, which was made to DC News Now, is widely considered a snub to Democratic nominee Angela Alsobrooks. “Forget about being a Democrat or Republican,” Manchin said. “Larry Hogan is just the right person with the right attitude for the job. He’s not afraid to speak against your party, and he won’t be controlled by any party or any type of ideology.” READ THE FULL STORY AT THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER
