GOP VP nominee Vance backs expanding veterans’ access to private doctors

By Rebecca Kheel | Military.com Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance expressed support for expanding veterans' ability to use private doctors in a podcast interview this week. During an appearance on the Shawn Ryan Show released Wednesday, Vance was asked by the host, a former Navy SEAL who said he stopped using the Department of Veterans Affairs after one try, whether he would consider privatizing veterans' health care. "I think I'd consider it," replied Vance, a former enlisted Marine who deployed to Iraq in a public affairs role. READ THE FULL STORY AT MILITARY.COM

Biden-Harris national security spokesman says no need to respond to vets on Afghanistan withdrawal debacle

By Jarrett Stepman  | Daily Signal White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby wrote Wednesday that there is “no use responding” to a “handful of vets” involved in the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle. Fox News obtained an email sent with that message by Kirby on the anniversary of 9/11 as a “reply all” likely meant for his staffers. “Clearly, I didn’t realize you were on the chain,” Kirby said about his initial email, Fox reported. The high-profile spokesman sent the email about not responding to some military veterans to address questions from Fox News about Kirby’s providing cover for the Biden-Harris administration on its hurried departure from Afghanistan in August 2021.  READ THE FULL STORY AT THE DAILY SIGNAL

Kamala Harris silent on whether she still supports ‘transgender operations on illegal aliens that are in prison’

By Tyler O'Neil | Daily Signal At Tuesday night’s debate, former President Donald Trump said his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, supports “transgender operations on illegal aliens that are in prison.” Harris looked on skeptically, suggesting Trump was off his rocker. Yet Harris has indeed supported transgender medical interventions on illegal alien prisoners, and she has not publicly disavowed the claim. Her campaign did not respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment about it. Some legacy media outlets rushed to “fact-check” Trump’s claim. Time magazine’s story on the debate originally blasted Trump’s quote as false. Time later appended this correction: READ THE FULL STORY AT THE DAILY SIGNAL

U.S. borrowing tops $1.9 trillion so far this year

By Jennie Tae and Jorge Fitz-Gibbon | The Center Square  The federal government borrowed $1.9 trillion in the first eleven months of fiscal year 2024, including $380 billion in August, a startling amount as federal watchdogs sound the alarm on spending. Those borrowing figures come from the the latest Monthly Treasury Statement from the Treasury Department. Maya MacGuineas, president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, said that is roughly $6 billion borrowed per day this fiscal year. "America faces steep fiscal challenges in the very near future – next year alone, we’ll need to confront the multi-trillion dollar question of extending the 2017 tax cuts, we’ll need to raise the debt ceiling, and we’ll need to address the expiration of discretionary spend...

Gray: The desperation at the heart of the Harris candidacy

By Freddy Gray, Commentary | The Spectator Barack Obama wrote The Audacity of Hope. The Kamala Harris story of 2024 could be called The Audacity of Desperation. Her brief candidacy has been an awesome display of chutzpah. With just weeks to go before the election, a panicked Democratic Party pushed aside their failing commander-in-chief and replaced him with Harris, the distinctly unpopular vice-president. She was then shamelessly presented to America and the world as an agent of change, even though she has no clear vision or agenda of her own. Twelve days have passed since Kamala Harris accepted the nomination and still her campaign website offers no clues as to what she might do as president. She has made some noises that sound a bit like policies. She’ll protect abo...

How migrant gang Tren de Aragua became a vicious criminal force across America

By Jennie Tae and Jorge Fitz-Gibbon | New York Post A one-time Venezuelan prison gang has erupted into a multinational migrant crime syndicate that is ravaging the US — and is the subject of more than 100 police investigations across the nation. Tren de Aragua, a vicious South American gang that sneaked into the US among the millions of migrants who have crossed the border, is peddling drugs, guns and women across the 50 states — from urban centers like New York and Chicago to Florida beaches and once-tranquil Middle America. In Colorado, the gang even got a “green light” to shoot at cops, according to a federal memo. “I would say that like six months ago, their organized presence wasn’t so obvious on the border,” a Texas law enforcement source told The Post. “Bu...

Boeing machinists go on strike

By Taylor Giorno | The Hill Boeing factory workers went on strike early Friday morning after overwhelmingly rejecting a new union contract with the company. Around 33,000 machinists went on strike shortly after midnight on the West Coast after the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) union announced 94.6 percent of workers had voted to reject the proposal and 96 percent approved the stoppage. The work stoppage puts financial strain on the storied airplane maker, which has been struggling to repair its reputation after the door plug of a Boeing 737 Max 9 blew out during an Alaska Airlines flight in January, prompting regulatory action and congressional scrutiny. Ganahl: Colorado’s ties to Kamala’s lies about later term abortion

By Heidi Ganahl, Commentary | Rocky Mountain Voice One of Kamala Harris’s most glaring falsehoods during the recent presidential debate was her dismissal of Donald Trump’s claim that abortion is legal and on demand at any point during pregnancy in some states. Harris confidently declared, “Nowhere in America is a woman carrying a pregnancy to term and asking for an abortion. That is not an abortion. That is not happening.”  But the truth is, it *is* happening—right here in Colorado. The radical position of “abortion until birth” was on full display as Harris, much like our Colorado Governor Jared Polis, defended unrestricted access to abortion without acknowledging the serious ethical and moral implications of late-term procedures. Her VP pick Walz is just as r...
