Biden ends bid for second term in White House as he drops out of his 2024 rematch with Trump

By Paul Steinhauser , Brooke Singman | Fox News President Joe Biden announced Sunday that he will suspend his 2024 re-election campaign amid mounting pressure from his Democratic colleagues on Capitol Hill, top donors and Hollywood stars after a disastrous debate performance last month. The unprecedented announcement came as an increasing number of Democrat lawmakers had begun to publicly call for Biden to step aside and the party's leadership reportedly was engaged in efforts to convince Biden, 81, he could not win in November's general election against former President Trump, the 2024 GOP nominee who Biden defeated four years ago to win the White House. "It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your president," Biden wrote in a public letter. "While it has been my i...

Dennis Quaid: Ronald Reagan’s story ‘exemplified’ what nation ‘needs to get back to’ in Aug. 30 movie release

By Kristen Altus | Fox Business Dennis Quaid is drawing parallels between the late 70s and the Reagan presidency to today, reliving the great relationship of two political rivals who worked together to make this country a better place for the American people. "They exemplified the way we would like to get this nation back to, as far as the unity and working it out with one another," Quaid said from the Republican National Convention Thursday night on "The Bottom Line." The beloved "Parent Trap" actor sat alongside his "Reagan" co-star Dan Lauria, as the two discussed what they learned from the 40th president and his friendship with Tip O’Neill, a Massachusetts Democrat who served as House speaker at the time. Some who want Biden out are after Harris too, AOC says in video rant

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice In an hour-long, self-described "rip the band-aid off" moment on Instagram, U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reports that even if certain top Democrats get President Joe Biden to withdraw his election bid, they won't be satisfied. They want Vice President Kamala Harris out too, she said, indicating Democrats are saying one thing in public and another in private. "I feel like there have been a lot of smokescreens and people have not been given the whole story," Ocasio-Cortez said. "I don't have a crystal ball and don't know what all is going on." She added: "That debate sucked. It sucked for everybody. It was just like not great." Ocasio-Cortez indicates influential Democrats are seeking more than just Biden's removal. “A lot of the...

Study: More voters still registered Democrat, but GOP gaining ground nationally

Buy Stephen Dinan  | The Washington Times Democrats still have an overall advantage over the GOP in terms of registered voters, but Republicans have narrowed the gap significantly since 2020, according to a new study. Across the 30 states where voters register by party, 37.6% of them identify as Democrats, down from 40% just after the last presidential election. Republicans, meanwhile, have grown their share from 29.8% to 30.3%, according to JMC Analytics, a Louisiana-based political polling firm.  Looking specifically at states deemed critical to the outcome of this year’s election, Democrats have also lost ground while the GOP is holding steady. JMC said Democrats’ share of voters went from 38.8% in early 2021 to 35.5% as of the start of this month. Republicans ha...

Zuckerberg: Donald Trump’s reaction to being shot ‘most badass things I’ve ever seen in my life’

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice Elon Musk is not the only social media mogul digging former President Donald Trump these days. During a Thursday interview with the New York Times, the founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, detailed his reaction to the attempted assassination of Mr. Trump at his final campaign rally, before accepting the Republican Party's nomination for President. He described Mr. Trump as a "badass" for his immediate response to the shooting. A kill shot missed its mark when Mr. Trump turned his head slightly right before impact and his right ear was grazed by the bullet. “Seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most badass things I’ve ever seen in my life,” Zuckerberg to...

Ukraine accuses Russia of deliberately destroying this year’s grain harvest

By Chris McCullough | The Fence Post Dozens of Ukrainian arable farmers have accused Russia of deliberately bombing their crops in the fields setting them alight and destroying this year’s harvest. According to the Ukrainian Agri Council (UAC), it has received dozens of reports from Ukrainian farmers about the deliberate destruction of fields by the Russian invaders. The UAC says the Russians are deliberately shelling fields in the big grain regions of Sumy, Dnipro, Odesa, Kherson, Kharkiv, Donetsk and Luhansk, resulting in the burning of hundreds of hectares of crops. ‘Time for Joe to go’: Growing number of Democrats want Biden out of race

By MIA MCCARTHY and IRIE SENTNER | Politico A new wave of Democrats has renewed calls for President Joe Biden to drop out of the race on Friday — a sudden burst of new defectors at the end of a week of crisis for the Biden campaign that’s been defined by leaks and backchannel conversations about the president’s potential exit. It’s a signal that the party has run out of patience and believes a decisive moment is at hand — and the latest indication that Biden has failed to staunch the flood of Democrats urging him to step aside since his disastrous debate performance on June 27. Since then, more than 30 Democrats have called on him to step down while top Congressional leaders are reportedly urging him to reconsider his decision to remain in the race behind closed doors. Hick: Biden’s withdrawal could ‘be in the best interests of the country’

By Ernest Luning | Colorado Politics U.S. Sen. John Hickenlooper said Wednesday that he believes it could be "in the best interests of the country" if President Joe Biden ends his bid for reelection, though the Colorado Democrat didn't call on Biden to exit the race, instead suggesting that the president could be nearing that decision. "Joe Biden has always put the country first. He's done what's best for America," Hickenlooper told Reuters in an interview. "He's working towards that." Said Hickenlooper: "That's his decision to make, but certainly there's more and more indications that that would be in the best interests of the country, I think." Federal appeals court says no to Biden’s student loan debt handout plan

By Eric Revell  | Fox Business A federal appeals court on Thursday issued a ruling that blocks the Biden administration from continuing to implement a new version of its student loan debt handout plan that is designed to reduce monthly payments for borrowers. The U.S. Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals granted a request by seven Republican states to block portions of the Education Department's plan that a lower court judge hadn't previously blocked. Last month, a U.S. District Court in St. Louis blocked the agency from moving forward with granting additional student loan forgiveness under the Biden administration's Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) plan – though it didn't block all elements of the plan.
