Trump names Florida Sen. Marco Rubio as his pick for Secretary of State

By Reagan Reese | Daily Caller President-elect Donald Trump named Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio as his pick for secretary of state in a Wednesday statement. After reports that Rubio would be getting the nod from Trump, the former president made it official. Republican John Thune elected Senate majority leader, edging Sen. Cornyn for the post

By Alexander Bolton | The Hill Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) has been elected Senate majority leader, setting the stage for him to replace retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who has held the top Senate GOP leadership job for the past 18 years. Thune has served as Senate Republican whip, the No. 2-ranking position in the Senate GOP leadership, since 2019, and largely managed operation of the Senate floor since McConnell suffered a concussion from a fall in 2023. Thune beat Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) by a vote of 25 to 24, according to two sources familiar. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE HILL

John Ratcliffe, a former congressman and director of intelligence, chosen as Trump’s pick to lead CIA

By Rebecca Beitsch | The Hill President-elect Trump announced Tuesday that he will nominate John Ratcliffe, his former head of national intelligence, to lead the CIA. Ratcliffe, a former Texas representative, was critical of investigations into Trump while in Congress and later served as a member of his impeachment team during Democrats’ first effort to boot Trump from office. A statement from Trump praises Ratcliffe for “exposing fake Russian collusion to be a Clinton campaign operation,” being a critic of a national security program that greenlights foreign surveillance and for criticizing those who first called into question the legitimacy of a laptop belonging to Hunter Biden. Trump nominates Fox News host, veteran Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense

By Samuel Chamberlain and Victor Nava | New York Post President-elect Donald Trump stunned political observers Tuesday night by nominating Fox News personality Pete Hegseth for secretary of defense. “Pete has spent his entire life as a Warrior for the Troops, and for the Country,” Trump, 78, said in a statement. “Pete is tough, smart and a true believer in America First. With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are on notice – Our Military will be Great Again, and America will Never Back Down.” The choice of Hegseth is an unorthodox pick from a field of contenders that included Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), who earned favor in military circles for working closely with the Pentagon on defense legislation; House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-Ala.); and former Rep. Tul...

Walcher: Who decides what’s a public road?

By Greg Walcher | Guest Commentary, GregWalcher.com Several years ago, Utah filed a suit insisting that the federal government turn over to the state 12,000 roads that cross federal lands within Utah. Few officials noticed, as disputes over who controls public roads on federal lands are nothing new. But the federal judge hearing this case just sent shock waves through Washington with an 80-page ruling containing an analysis worthy of the highest court, refusing to dismiss the case, and excoriating the government for trying to thwart the clear intent of the law. It is at least the 10th time in recent memory that federal courts reigned in federal agencies asserting absolute authority over public roads across public lands. The case cannot be understood without historical context...

By Reagan Reese | Daily Caller President-elect Donald Trump announced Tuesday that Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will together establish a new Department of Government Efficiency in his second administration. Musk and Ramaswamy have been appointed to “slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures and restructure Federal Agencies,” Trump’s statement reads. The former president added that the government department led by Musk and Ramaswamy will partner with the White House Office of Management and Budget in an effort “to drive large scale structural reform.” “I look forward to Elon and Vivek making changes to the Federal Bureaucracy with an eye on efficiency and, at the same time, making life better for all Americans. Importantly, we will drive out the massive waste and fraud ...

Ballot chasing operations led by Turning Point Action made difference in 2024 election

By Matthew Boyle | Breitbart Turning Point Action’s plans to chase ballots in key swing states seem to have made the difference in helping put former President Donald Trump, now again the President-elect, over the top in his comeback bid for the White House. Charlie Kirk, Turning Point’s top activist, announced on social media in the aftermath of the election the numbers of ballots the organization chased in key battleground states of Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Nevada, helping contribute to flipping each state. While many in media scoffed at outside groups’ efforts to handle most of the ground game efforts for Republicans, Breitbart News regularly covered Turning Point Action’s efforts in in-depth pieces throughout the year. One key article that featured an interview with T...

Speaker Johnson orders entire Biden team to preserve and retain records, documents

By Matthew Boyle | Breitbart House Speaker Mike Johnson on Tuesday ordered the entire administration of President Joe Biden to preserve all records and communications in the waning days of the outgoing Democrat administration as former President Donald Trump’s team prepares to take over. Johnson, Breitbart News has learned exclusively, has sent letters to all 18 federal Departments ordering them to retain and preserve documents. This could become an explosive storyline if outgoing Biden administration officials attempt to delete or destroy documents that shed light on some of the radical policies they pursued or scandals with regard to censorship or other major storylines of the past four years, such as the deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan or the wide open border. If anyone is caug...

Sloan: The conservative’s duty in a second Trump presidency

By Kelly Sloan | Contributing Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice We are now a week past election day, and it is time for a bit of circumspection. Donald Trump won, convincingly, both the electoral college and the popular vote. He is due his victory lap, as are Republicans in general, after having endured months of being called every rotten thing in the book. And yes, there is, in that vein, some amusement to be had at the expense of those on the left who are –- to put it mildly -- not handling the results well. But schadenfreude is an emotion best indulged in small doses, lest it eventually corrupts the soul. The Democrats are forced to undergo a considerable degree of introspection as they travel their post-election "Via Dolorsa". But conservatives too, after the celebratory firewo...
