The former President has announced a rally in which he will deliver remarks at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center, 6700 N. Gaylord Rockies Blvd., in Aurora. Trump had repeatedly said he would visit the Front Range community during prior rallies. By Heather Willard | Fox 31 News It’s time to keep an eye on your mailbox ahead of the Nov. 5 general election, as the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office announced that mail ballots will be sent to voters in the next week or two. Specifically, the ballots will be mailed beginning Oct. 11 through Oct. 18. That means the ballots will arrive about 15 to 20 days before the election. Overseas and military voters’ ballots were sent out by Sept. 21. By Maddie Rhodes | Fox 31 News Four years ago, Colorado changed state law to replace the second Monday of October from formerly Columbus Day to Frances Xavier Cabrini Day. While this is now a holiday in Colorado, many people don’t get Monday off. The holiday is based on Mother Cabrini, who moved from Italy to New York in the late 1880s. Cabrini was a “humanitarian champion of immigrants and children,” according to House Bill 20-1031, “Replace Columbus Day With New State Holiday.” In the early 1900s, Cabrini moved to Colorado and opened the Queen of Heaven Orphanage for girls in north Denver. She also founded a summer camp for the Queen of Heaven orphans in Mount Vernon Canyon, known for the “miracle of the mountains,” where Cabrini was credited for finding water on the land. ...

Prop. 130 would provide $350 million for law enforcement in Colorado, if passed in November

By Aiga Petelo | KJCT-TV ABC 8 News Proposition 130 will be on November’s ballot this upcoming fall. Proposition 130 would require the state to provide $350 million to help local police departments recruit, train, and retain officers. The funding can be used to increase pay for officers, provide hiring and retention bonuses, and provide ongoing training. Additionally, the proposition would also require the state to provide a one-time $1 million death benefit to help families of police officers who are killed in the line of duty. The Colorado Fiscal Institute,who has come out against the measure, stated that the $350 million could be used to pay the salaries of more than 5,700 Colorado teachers or even double Colorado’s Affordable Housing Fund. When Northeast Coloradan residents noticed their property taxes double from 2019 to 2020, a few of them filed suit against the Lower South Platte Water Conservancy District.  Unanimously, the Colorado Appellate Court ruled in March this was a violation of the Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR).  The Colorado Supreme Court affirmed this ruling and denied the defendant’s appeal on Sept. 30.
