Poll: Former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters, a villain or hero?

By Pamela Poll | Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice As a Colorado citizen who has read the summaries of the Mesa County Reports and naturally takes great interest in the question of the security of Colorado’s election process, I would like to share what I’ve discovered.  What Clerk Peters did to preserve the Mesa County election data from the 2020 and 2021 elections was her duty to Colorado citizens and to the law. Clerk Peters had been told that the new software installation in 2021 known as the “Trusted Build”, ordered by Secretary of State Jena Griswold, would erase the 2020 and 2021 election data. Preserving election data on a server as required by Colorado law should be standard practice.  Three cyber security experts examined the election system and data. In my opini...

Walz ‘did not earn the rank’ he claims, his unit successor Lt. Col. John Kolb says in Facebook post

By Stephen M. Lepore | DailyMail.com The battalion commander who ran Tim Walz's former unit has slammed the vice presidential nominee over claims of 'stolen valor'.   Kamala Harris' running mate has already been forced to backtrack on claims of having 'carried' weapons of war in combat during his 24 years in the Army National Guard and faced claims of being a 'coward' from family members of soldiers. Harris has also been put in the unenviable position of confronting claims that Walz misrepresented his rank when he retired from the National Guard. READ THE FIULL STORY AT DAILYMAIL.COM

Vespa: Is Barack Obama covertly the QB of the Harris presidential campaign?

By Matt Vespa | Townhall Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy isn’t one to spew conspiracy theories, but what he said about Kamala Harris’ campaign was interesting, given the recent hires. The California Republican said that the man who is the real campaign manager is none other than former President Barack Obama (via NY Post). The former president worked behind the scenes to jettison Biden after his disastrous June 27 debate. He knew Biden couldn’t beat Trump and felt the same way about Kamala. ‘Never’ Harris: Border Patrol agents on Kamala and that she is ‘probably worse than Biden’

By Anna Giaritelli | Washington Examiner Border Patrol agents expressed more distrust of Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris than President Joe Biden and said they will not vote for her in November in interviews with the Washington Examiner. None of the more than a dozen Border Patrol agents questioned by the Washington Examiner said they would cast a ballot for Harris because they do not view her as supportive of the organization and its congressionally mandated mission. “I would never vote for her,” the first agent said. “These past four years have been a nightmare for the patrol, and it would be another four years of the same — and probably worse than Biden, honestly,” a second agent said. Fact check: Incarcerated felons can’t vote, but upon release they can

By Justin George | The Colorado Sun People convicted of felonies who have served their entire sentences can vote in Colorado. So can people on probation and parole. Those convicted of felonies who are imprisoned or confined to detention as part of their sentence cannot vote. They regain their voting eligibility after they have completed their “full term of imprisonment,” according to the Colorado Secretary of State. “The day you are released from detention or incarceration is the day your eligibility to register to vote is restored,” the office stated on its website. Dem’s VP hopeful Walz to attend fundraiser in Denver along five-stop, multi-state tour this week

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, named last week by Vice President Kamala Harris as her running mate, will make Denver a destination this week in advance of the Democratic National Convention. It is part of a multi-stop fundraising trip from coast-to-coast, beginning Tuesday in California, where Walz plans to speak to the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees at its Los Angeles convention, according to several media reports. Following the stop in California, Walz will appear at Democratic fundraisers in Denver and Boston, Mass., on Wednesday and then will be off to Newport, R.I., and Southampton, N.Y., for two more fundraisers on Thursday, The Washington Times reports. Republican Donald J. Trump just last week visited Aspen ...

Aspen was abuzz for Donald Trump’s visit to attend private fundraiser

By Nate Belt | Fox 31 News Donald Trump made an unlikely visit to the Colorado mountains on Saturday, looking to raise money for his re-election campaign. Aspen resident Michael Quintanilla wasn’t sure exactly what was keeping him from getting to work on Saturday afternoon. “I was stuck in traffic and then I just see police cars and stuff,” he said. He took out his phone to start recording when he figured it out. READ THE FULL STORY AT FOX 31 NEWS

Panel of Colorado lawmakers schedule meeting amid talk of property tax compromise, special session

By Deborah Grigsby | Colorado Politics A panel of Colorado lawmakers tasked with crafting long-term property tax policy is meeting on Monday, potentially laying down the groundwork for a special session amid speculation that parties are negotiating a potential compromise that would pull two initiatives from the November ballot in exchange for deeper reductions to people's tax liabilities. The agenda posted on the state’s legislative website stated that the 19-member Commission on Property Tax will convene to discuss potential changes to legislation that Democrats and Republicans passed just this last session. That measure, the product of a deal reached by Democrats and Republicans, reduced commercial property tax assessment rates and decreased property valuations. The pr...

While other states were lowering taxes, Dem’s VP candidate Walz hit Minnesotans with tax hikes

By Jeff Mordock | The Washington Times During Tim Walz’s tenure as Minnesota’s governor, he has approved more than $10 billion in tax hikes, imposing new taxes on everything from retail deliveries to workers’ earnings, overseeing one of the most dramatic shifts towards higher taxes in the country. Mr. Walz’s big-spending, high-tax policies have led to an anemic economy in Minnesota, which has lagged behind the rest of the nation in economic growth. Average weekly wages in Minnesota rank among the lowest in the country, and population growth has stalled as high-income households flee the state. The tax-and-spend spree makes Mr. Walz an outlier at a time when governors of both parties are slashing state taxes. It also foreshadows the direction Vice President Kama...

Cook Report moves three swing states away from Trump, makes them ‘toss-ups’

By Ryan King | The New York Post The Cook Political Report moved Arizona, Georgia and Nevada away from former President Donald Trump, switching them from “Lean Republican” to “toss-ups” as Vice President Kamala Harris enjoys a polling bump. Last month, the election handicapper shifted those three states toward Trump in the aftermath of President Biden’s brutal debate performance, but now the election dynamic has seemingly reset with Harris at the helm of the Democratic ticket. “Three weeks ago, Donald Trump was leading President Joe Biden in the Cook Political Report national vote tracker by about 2.5%. Today, Kamala Harris leads Trump by less than one point, a shift of more than three points in Harris’ direction,” Cook Political Report’s editor-in-chief Amy Walter explained....
